Excellent from entrance to the end. Seen to our table immediately, and service was confident and polite. Speed of service was good and unhurried from well trained and keen staff. It was too warm in the restaurant on ground floor. The well done steak came rare but being British guests was eaten without complaint. Loved the whippy ice-cream in a cone or glass to finish.

We visited for lunch on Friday afternoon and had the most incredible experience. Our grandad was in a wheelchair and although there's a couple of steps to navigate the staff were incredibly patient and accommodating with the tables. They found us the perfect spot outside and the service was so attentive and warm. The staff are incredible and so is the food, we had skate, monkfish and flat iron along with a mix of sides and dessert. It was all exceptional! Highly highly recommend

Lovely, lovely pub with a great, reasonably priced menu and equally amazing staff. I watched them go from table to table, good humoured and friendly, helping diners with their choices and with information about the local area. Just a wonderful experience, top marks for customer service. Strongly recommended.

Only had dinner at The Bull. Lived up to the billing! Coming from London, it was excellent value for delicious food. Really liked the extensive menu with lots of vegetable options - choosing the dishes is quite a task but this is where the service is helpful and charming. I particularly enjoyed the soda bread, the beef starter (deliciously fatty) and the scallops as well as the flat iron… sad to have missed out on the bull whippy but the mousse and almond tart were on point. Also retains a lovely local vibe despite obviously attracting people from far and wide … hope to be back!

Brilliant restaurant - fab food and great service. After a walk in the Costwolds, stopping here for a late lunch was a real treat. The food was just divine and the service also did the part. The decor of the restaurant was rustic but modern at the same time and it had clearly been re-done very recently. Do not hesitate to stop here if you are in the area.

We had the most amazing stay. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. We had a drink and nibbles in the bar before relaxing in our stunning room. We had a divine dinner. The menu was so well thought out and the wines were fab. We slept so well in the huge, comfy bed and had a relaxing morning eating a delicious breakfast in the window. We can’t wait to return.

charming lunch, and very delicious food - a menu to provoke inspired thought about what to eat, which did not disappoint! Fabulous crab on toast, (albeit a little frustrating to try and eat huge chunk of crusty sour dough with an antique butter knife..) Generous portions, pretty setting all round. Waits between courses a little laid back (over 30 mins) but staff are lovely and clearly well trained in their craft! Great atmosphere.

We stayed overnight and had lunch in the restaurant the next day. The room was really well appointed and felt luxurious (plush linens, pillows and towels, good toiletries). Fruit bowel was a nice touch. Decent sized room with space around the very comfy king sized bed. Downsides; the freestanding fan was really noisy and meant we couldn’t use it at night. General noise from outside - with the weather being warm we had the windows open. Whilst the noise from patrons outside (the room looks over the garden) was minimal and stopped just before 11pm, the kitchen extractor unit kicked in at about 5:30am and woke us up. Not the most restful night. Lunch the next day was a little disappointing. The menu read well but is on the expensive side. The bar snacks were delicious (the mackerel a highlight) but we then waited 45 minutes for our main course, despite other customers arriving after and getting their food before us. We enquired and were told it was just being plated - we waited a further 10 minutes before they arrived (no reason for the delay was offered). The pork chop was tasty but the cucumber in the side dish was bitter and unpleasant. We then asked for the bill, which took 10 minutes) before waiting a further 15 minutes before we could pay (despite asking various members of the team).

Very impressed with the service and food here. As a vegan living in the Cotswolds area, many pubs cannot accommodate me however with short notice they were able to whip me up something very delicious. They had theoretically stopped serving lunch however the team kindly allowed us to order! I had a generous plate of mixed vegetables with homemade dressing and my partner had a lamb roast. The interior and garden area of the pub was lovely also. Thank you, we will certainly be back!

A great pub right in the centre of a lovely Cotswold town - Charlbury. The food was good. Steak was good and the sides were good and in good portions. The cider was a pleasant surprise - not very dry and not very sweet. The food was a bit pricey. We had 4 side dishes to share among 3 of us, one main and a dessert each. The bill was £60+ / person. We had to wait quite a bit for our drinks to be served. Two of our orders were forgotten. In the end, I had to just give up on the coke I ordered. The town is very lovely. There’s a 45-min circular walk starting from the pub, which is a lovely after meal activity.
